Andre Romell Young, also known as Dr. Dre, is an American record producer, rapper, record executive, and actor. Dr. Dre is best known for his work in the hip-hop genre, including his work with the group N.W.A.
In 2006, Dr. Dre launched his own brand of headphones, Beats by Dr. Dre. The headphones were manufactured by Monster, but the contract between the two companies was dissolved in late 2012. In 2014, Apple Inc. acquired Beats Electronics, the company that produces the Beats by Dr. Dre headphones, for $3 billion.
The Beats by Dr. Dre headphones have been a commercial success, with over 40 million units sold worldwide. The headphones have been praised for their sound quality and design, but they have also been criticized for their high price.
